Miley Cyrus is opening up about the final conversation she had with her late godmother and country music icon, Dolly Parton.
Miley first broke her silence a few days after Dolly’s death. The actress shared a black and white photo of Dolly alongside her tribute.
“The feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share” Miley wrote at the time. “Our most sacred moments were private and they’ll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour & between our hearts.”

When Miley was born, her parents, Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus Purcell, asked Dolly to be her godmother. The country legend remained a special part of Miley’s life over the years, with Miley lovingly calling her “Aunt Dolly” and her “fairy godmother.”
The two share a special bond that was evident whenever they shared the stage, but their relationship went far beyond public appearances.
Over the years, Dolly and Miley collaborated on numerous occasions, most notably when Dolly guest-starred on Miley’s hit Disney Channel series Hannah Montana. The appearance gave Dolly a chance to connect with a younger generation of fans while showcasing the special relationship she shared with Miley.

And Miley is now opening up about her final conversation with Dolly before her death. One of the things on Miley’s mind was her upcoming album, and now that the project has been released, she still plans to send Dolly a copy.
Miley opened up about that conversation during a September 17 interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, reflecting on the special bond she shared with Dolly and their discussion about her new music.
The “Wrecking Ball” singer became emotional while telling Zane about the moment she shared the news of her album with Dolly.
“The time that we talked, which was the last time we would talk, it was actually me telling her about this record,” she shared.
Dolly said that when the vinyl is printed, she still plans to send a copy to her godmother as she normally would, keeping the tradition alive even though she is no longer here to receive it.
“Dolly has been the first person that when I get a vinyl printed, that’s the first person I send it to since I’ve been making vinyls,” Miley told Zane. “This time around I’m going to send her a vinyl because I always do.”
