New Daytona 500 Champion Did The Most Southern Thing After He Won The Big Race

One of the most famous races in NASCAR history is the Daytona 500. It carries the biggest purse and is considered the most important and prestigious races of the year. The Daytona 500 is also usually the first race of the year. It is held annually at the Daytona International Speedway and is known as “The Greatest American Race” and the “Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing.”

Some of the most famous and iconic drivers of all time have taken home the trophy, which since 1997 has been the Harley J. Earl Trophy. Lee Petty, Richard Petty, Cale Yarborough, Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Michael Waltrip, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. are just a few who have won the Daytona 500.

The 2023 champion is none other than Ricky Stenhouse Jr!

His celebration was epic: endless confetti and air cannons, and eventually….lots of alcohol.

A lot of times, when champions are interviewed about what they are doing next, the person will say, “I’m going to Disney World!” Not for Stenhouse! He went to Waffle House, and even took the Harley J. Earl Trophy with him!  His wife, Madyson Joye Stenhouse took photos of the occasion.

“Hello. We’re hungry,” he said before the employees asked him if he won the Daytona 500. They erupted in cheers when he revealed that he had! Hope he had the smothered hash browns!
