After 19 Years Of Marriage, Nicole Kidman Filed For Divorce From Keith Urban On September 30

Just four days after filing for divorce from Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman made her first major public appearance, and she did so to celebrate a famous friend.

Kidman filed divorce paperwork at the Davidson County Circuit Court in Tennessee on September 30. The news of her filing came just one day after it was widely reported that she and Urban had separated in early summer after 19 years of marriage.

Divorce records cited by The Tennessean list “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split. Urban and Kidman had already agreed on the details of their divorce before Kidman filed the documents in court. The marital dissolution agreement was signed by Urban on August 29 and by Kidman on September 6.

Kidman and Urban share two daughters, Sunday Rose (age 17) and Faith Margaret (age 14). Their divorce records show that Kidman was granted primary paternal rights. The girls will be with her 306 days out of the year, and with Urban for 59.

Both Kidman and Urban will continue to make decisions regarding their children. But if an agreement can’t be reached, Kidman will have the final say.

The former couple’s divorce papers show that neither will pay alimony.

Nicole Kidman Appears At Public Event Honoring Lioness And Yellowstone Creator Taylor Sheridan

On October 2, Keith Urban had his first concert since news broke that he and Kidman had divorced. He didn’t mention their split during the show, but he was noticeably no longer wearing his wedding band and didn’t sing “The Fighter,” a song inspired by their relationship

Nicole Kidman’s first known public appearance after filing for divorce was on October 1, when she was photographed hiking with her sister, Antonia, near Nashville.

Then, on October 4, Kidman attended her first public event amid her split from Urban. She returned to the spotlight to honor Taylor Sheridan, the creator of hit shows such as Lioness, Landman, and Yellowstone. Kidman has starred in the first two seasons of Lioness and will reprise her role in the third season.

Sheridan was recognized with the Award of Inspiration during amfAR Dallas’ charity event on October 4. amfAR is an organization that raises funding for HIV/AIDS research.

Kidman presented the award to Sheridan, and delivered a passionate speech in his honor.

“I think what Taylor recognizes, as we all do, is that we are all more alike than we are different, and that we’re better when we look out for each other,” Kidman said during the event, according to PEOPLE. “That, of course, is why we’re here tonight. What better way to support, to elevate our common humanity, than to help fund bold and innovative research.”

Kidman and Sheridan also posed for photos together at the event. You can find one of those photos below.
