Country rapper Lil Nas X, the artist known for his record-breaking hit song “Old Town Road,” was arrested Thursday (August 21).

Lil Nas X, whose birth name is Montero Lamar Hill, was found wandering the streets of Los Angeles in only his underwear and boots early Thursday. Passersby called authorities for a suspected drug overdose. When police arrived, the singer stripped and allegedly “battered” an officer.

Hill was transported to a local hospital for evaluation before he was arrested and taken to jail.

After spending the weekend in jail, Lil Nas X appeared before a judge Monday morning.

According to TMZ, Hill is now facing four felony charges, all of which he pleaded not guilty. The judge set his bail at $75,000 and was ordered to enroll in the outpatient program, Narcotics Anonymous. He was also forbidden from owning, using, or processing illegal narcotics, according to the outlet.

Three of the four felony charges stem from his attack on three police officers, which resulted in injuries. The fourth charge is “resisting an executive officer” or resisting arrest.

Authorities say they believe Hill was under the influence of drugs at the time of his arrest. Christy O’Connor, the artist’s attorney, denied the claims, stating that the star was not taking any illegal drugs and that “the episode was an aberration in his life.”

If found guilty, the musician could face a $10,000 fine and up to three years of jail time for each charge, per California’s penal code.
