Paula Deen’s latest social media post left fans doing a double take after it revealed her incredible weight loss transformation.
The 79-year-old chef shared a photo on Instagram over the weekend, showing off some of her fall decorations. But it was her appearance that caught most people’s attention.
“It’s still hot here, but fall decorations make it feel cooler and cozier! Are you decorated yet?,” Deen captioned the post.
The former Food Network star looked noticeably thinner in a pink sweater, black leggings, and thick-framed black glasses.
It didn’t take long for fans to fill the comments with messages praising Deen and saying how healthy she looks. A few comments left by fans include:
“You look amazing!!!! And I bet you feel better!! Good job🎉🎉🎉”
“She looks good. And younger looking. Probably feels healthier too.”
“You look absolutely gorgeous. Paula you’re aging backwards.”
“Did you quit cooking with butter ?! You look amazing”
“You look better everytime I see you🤗👍🏼”
Although this is the latest photo fans have seen of Deen’s transformation, her weight loss journey actually began years ago.
The cookbook author started focusing more on her health after being diagnosed with diabetes in 2009.
Three years later, Deen shared her diagnosis publicly for the first time in a statement announcing her partnership with Novo Nordisk, a pharmaceutical company that focuses on diabetes and weight management.
The company makes GLP-1 medications, but Deen has not confirmed whether she has used newer weight loss drugs like Ozempic. She has, however, previously used Victoza, a GLP-1 receptor agonist, as part of her diabetes treatment plan.
Deen mainly credits her weight loss to making healthier food choices. During an appearance on The Dr. Oz Show a few years ago, she said she cut out white, starchy foods.
“At that point, I went home to my kitchen and I threw out everything that was white,” she recalled after learning her diabetes diagnosis, per ABC News.
“White bread, white rice, white potatoes, white pasta. I did that for four months, y’all! Just four months and I lost 35 or 40 pounds.”
Deen also started paying closer attention to portion sizes.
“The thing that I’m really trying to focus on y’all is moderation, moderation, moderation. Eat a cookie, just don’t eat six of them,” she added.
What Is Paula Deen Doing Now?
After her removal from the Food Network in 2013 following a highly publicized scandal, Deen shifted more of her focus to social media. She now regularly shares recipe videos on her YouTube channel.
In 2025, her famous restaurant, The Lady & Sons, in Savannah, Georgia, suddenly closed its doors. However, she continues to operate Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen locations across the U.S.
