On January 12, 2023, Lisa Marie Presley unexpectedly passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest.

It was so unexpected because she had just made a public appearance at the Golden Globes just two days prior, and celebrated her late father, Elvis Presley‘s birthday at a party two days before that.

She attended the 2023 Golden Globes in support of the film Elvis, and Austin Butler, who took home the trophy for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama. Lisa Marie looked on with pride as he accepted the award, and thanked her in particular.

Following her daughter’s passing, Priscilla thanked her fans for their love and support.

“Thank you all for your condolences, you have touched me with your words. It has been a very difficult time but just knowing your love is out there makes a difference,” she wrote. “I’m truly overwhelmed with your words, your prayers, your love and your support. Thank you from the bottom of my heart in trying to help me get through this loss. Every parent who has lost a daughter or son knows what a dark painstaking journey it is.”

At her daughter’s public memorial service at Graceland, Priscilla read a poem written by her granddaughter, saying, “Now, she is home where she always belonged, but my heart is missing her love / She knew that I loved her / I fear I’ll never touch her / But the old soul is always with me / She doesn’t drift above.”

If you’ve lost a loved one, all the “firsts” are extremely difficult; first holidays, first birthdays, and more. Just 20 days after Lisa Marie’s passing, her family will experience the first of the firsts. Her first birthday after her death. On February 1, 2023, Lisa Marie would have turned 55 years old.

Priscilla took to Facebook to remember her daughter by sharing several photos of them throughout the years.

She wrote, “Today would have been Lisa’s 55th birthday. My wish is to protect my three grandchildren and keep our family together. From the first moment I held Lisa in my arms, I’ve protected, loved and guided her, as I have my son. Our hearts are broken, and I am having to learn to live without my only daughter. We truly love all of you, and we feel your prayers. Thank you so much for caring so deeply for our family.”

Now it is Lisa Marie’s 56th birthday. While it is not her first birthday since her passing, it is still a painful death. We can’t imagine what Lisa Marie’s family is going through that day. We will keep Priscilla, and Lisa Marie’s children – Riley, Harper, and Finley – in our prayers, today especially.
