Who is Dayton Webber, amputee cornhole player?

Dayton Webber is a remarkable figure in the sports world, particularly in the domain of cornhole. While many are familiar with cornhole as a leisurely activity at tailgates and picnics, the game has evolved into an elite-level sport. Dayton stands out as one of its unique professional athletes.

Born with a fighting spirit, Dayton faced incredible adversity as a child. He contracted a severe blood infection when he was just an infant, which led to a dire prognosis that gave him only a 3% chance to live. To halt the disease, doctors had no choice but to amputate his arms and legs. Yet, Dayton not only survived but thrived.

Turning challenges into opportunities, he has played cornhole for over eight years. Starting as an amateur, Dayton quickly progressed and has been a professional cornhole player with the American Cornhole League, the premier professional cornhole organization in the U.S., for the past two years. Notably, he is the first quadruple amputee in the association’s history. His impressive skills have been highlighted on various platforms, including a viral video that showcased his remarkable throws during a competition in Milwaukee, which earned him a place on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10.

Unlike many of his competitors, Dayton competes without the aid of his prosthetic legs. In his words, “I feel like I can play sports and show people what I can do — that I can do sports just as well as them.” His dedication is evident in his rigorous training schedule, practicing three to four hours daily.

Outside of his athletic endeavors, Dayton is an avid content creator with a YouTube channel and has ambitions of venturing into motivational speaking. He regularly shares insights into his life and training on social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok.

His philosophy in sports and everyday life is to focus on the present and not dwell on past performance. “Forget what has already happened,” Dayton says, emphasizing the importance of not getting bogged down by regrets or the ‘what-ifs.’ By adopting this attitude, he starts each day anew, which helps him bounce back from challenges. He also hopes to inspire others with his story, encouraging them to chase their dreams regardless of their hurdles. Dayton has had to grapple with being underestimated for much of his life due to his appearance. Still, he continues to prove that he can overcome difficulties, believing that others can do the same.
