The People’s Choice Country Awards has quickly become a significant event in the country music calendar. It celebrates both established stars and emerging talents in the genre. This fan-voted awards show allows country music enthusiasts to honor their favorite artists, songs, and performances.
First People’s Choice Country Awards
The first-ever People’s Choice Country Awards took place in 2023, setting the stage for what would become an annual tradition. Hosted by Little Big Town at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, the first show featured a star-studded lineup of nominees and performers.
The show drew in 3.90 million views with its first broadcast.
2024 Awards Show
Fast forward to 2024, and the second annual People’s Choice Country Awards, held on Thursday (September 26), built upon the success of its predecessor. This time, country music icon Shania Twain took the reins as host.
Interestingly, some winners from last year’s show managed to defend their titles in 2024. Morgan Wallen once again claimed the top honor as The People’s Artist. Lainey Wilson also repeated her success, winning Female Artist for the second consecutive year.

The People’s Choice Country Awards also continues to honor industry icons with special awards. In 2023, Toby Keith received the Country Music Icon Award, while Wynonna Judd was honored with the Country Champion Award. The tradition continued this year, with Miranda Lambert receiving the Icon Award and Kane Brown being honored with the Country Champion award.

Ratings Performance
The 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards, broadcast on NBC, saw a decline in viewership compared to the previous year. The show attracted 3.3 million viewers and scored a 0.3 rating in the key demographic, representing an 18% decrease in audience from the 2023 event. However, it’s worth noting that despite the drop in overall viewership, the show maintained steady performance in the demo ratings.
