Morgan Wallen’s Chair-Throwing Incident Could Land Him Behind Bars

Morgan Wallen is on the brink of being remembered in history alongside country singers such as David Allan Coe or Merle Haggard, country singers who have served jail time. The singer of “Lies Lies Lies” is facing potential jail time for a chair-throwing incident that occurred in Nashville earlier this year.

What Happened?

Wallen did not commit an armed robbery or a “traditional” crime that he might want to sing about later. Instead, he allegedly threw a chair from the top of a Broadway bar.

In April, Wallen was at Chief’s bar in Nashville, where he allegedly threw a chair from the top floor. The chair landed just a few feet in front of two police officers, leading to Wallen’s arrest. He was charged with three counts of reckless endangerment and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct.

Morgan Wallen’s Response

Wallen was quiet following the incident but he finally spoke up weeks after and released a statement on X saying:

“I didn’t feel right publicly checking in until I made amends with some folks. I’ve touched base with Nashville law enforcement, my family, and the good people at Chief’s. I’m not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility,” he wrote. “I have the utmost respect for the officers working every day to keep us all safe. Regarding my tour, there will be no change.”

Will He Go To Jail?

This was not Wallen’s first run-in with the law. In 2020, he was arrested for an incident at Kid Rock’s bar, but the charges were quickly dropped.

It might be his multiple arrests, the public nature of the crime, or the law does not want someone famous to walk, but they are talking jail time for the country star.

Wallen’s lawyer attempted to get the singer a slap on the wrist and postponed his hearing to give them time to negotiate outside of court.

A source divulged to Life & Style that, “Morgan’s lawyers have tried to strike a deal where he’d receive probation but it’s looking bleak at this point. He’s likely to spend time behind bars.”

Wallen is facing six years in prison for his drunken crime, but they’re hopeful for 30-60 days.

The star is reportedly nervous about the jail time, and rightfully so! Besides having to spend time in jail, this could make it incredibly hard to tour internationally, as he has the potential to be denied visas.

Wallen is set to be sentenced on December 12th, 2024. Until then, Wallen will be on the European leg of his tour and set to release new music. The singer just performed his unreleased new single “Love Somebody” in Stockholm. Watch his live performance below.
