Ruby Leigh’s Best “Voice” Performances, Ranked

The Voice has seen its share of country talent over the course of 24 seasons, but few contestants have captured as much attention as Ruby Leigh.

16-year-old Ruby Leigh hails from the tiny Missouri town of Foley – population 68. Her passion for music was ignited when she was only 9 and heard Guy Clark on the radio in her dad’s garage. She learned every word to Clark’s “Dublin Blues” and sang it for her dad and told him that she wanted to be a singer.

“I said ‘Sure you are a kid. Next week you’re gonna want to drive my race car. Then you’re going to want to be an astronaut.’ She told me ‘This is what I wanna do for the rest of my life, Daddy.’ She knew what she wanted at 9,” Ruby’s dad, Casey Pearson, told the St. Louis Post Dispatch.

Her parents never looked back after realizing that their daughter had an incredible talent and a passion for music that needed to be shared. Ruby began entering singing competitions and by age 11 had won gospel and country categories at the World Championships of Performing Arts.

In the years since, Ruby Leigh sang at every opportunity, whether it be at local bars and festivals or opening for country acts such as Bryan White, Tracy Lawrence or Clint Black.

Ruby Leigh’s Voice Journey

Ruby Leigh captured the hearts of America and The Voice coaches when she showed off her yodeling skills while singing Patsy Montana’s “I Want To Be A Cowboy’s Sweetheart” during her Blind Audition.

Earning a four-chair turn, the coaches heaped praise on the teen and were clearly impressed with her unique talent.

“I’ve truly never heard anything like what you just did. I loved how clear and precise and piercing and beautiful your tone was. … How is a human being able to do the things that you’re doing?” coach John Legend said before predicting that she may win this year’s title. “You can win The Voice, honestly.”

Over the course of her Voice journey, Ruby Leigh has covered some of country music’s greatest artists, such as LeAnn Rimes, Linda Ronstadt, John Denver, Reba McEntire and more.
