Everyone knows a dog is a man’s best friend, and that statement couldn’t appear more true after watching a dog receive a shirt in the mail from his owner who was deployed in the military.
JD and Rachel Aument, a young couple living in Pennsylvania found their beloved dog Brindle at an animal shelter when he was just a couple of months old and took him in as their own.
JD and Rachel already had one dog named Xander who was super happy to have a companion in the house and they all fell in love with their new addition to the family.
Xander grew to have a closer bond with Rachel while Brindle grew to have a stronger bond with his dad. However, JD serves in the US Military and was called out to be deployed overseas which absolutely broke Brindle’s heart.
Rachel said it was devastating for Brindle. He went from a lively, joyful pet to a still statue of sadness who lost all sense of playfulness, his appetite, and just stared out the window all the time whimpering.
She told JD about the situation which gave him a brilliant idea that he quickly put into action. JD mailed one of his used shirts he’d been wearing for a few days just to get it all smelly for Brindle.
When it finally came in the mail, Rachel threw it on the floor, called the dogs, and started recording. Xander wasn’t that interested in the smelly shirt, but boy was Brindle.
“OMG. Guys. My husband has been deployed for the past 9 months and he sent home a stinky shirt for his pup,” Rachel wrote on Facebook.
He sniffed all over that dirty shirt with a passion and rolled over onto it trying to smear the smell off onto himself. It was truly nice to see Brindle happy again.
