Single Of The Year Winner Announced At 2023 ACM Awards

Academy of Country Music

An Exciting Night For Country Music Fans

Every year, country music fans look forward to the annual ACM Awards. Though a lot has changed in recent years.

For starters, the ceremony has switched venues. The 2023 ceremony was held in Frisco, Texas, for the first time.

Secondly, the ACM Awards now occur later in the year than they used to. Third, the ceremony does not air on regular television any longer. Instead, this marks the second year it’s only available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.

But one thing that hasn’t changed? The outstanding talent that deserves to be honored!

The ACM’s Single Of The Year Award

This year the ACM recognized five of the best country songs released in the past year by nominating them for the Single of the Year Award. Those songs were:

Heart Like a Truck” by Lainey Wilson

“Never Wanted to Be That Girl” by Carly Pearce and Ashley McBryde

“She Had Me at Heads Carolina” by Cole Swindell

“Thank God” by Kane Brown and Katelyn Brown

“‘Til You Can’t” by Cody Johnson

The Single of the Year award is given to the artist(s), producer(s), and label(s). It was introduced as the Single Record of the Year award, with Glen Campbell‘s “Gentle on My Mind” being the first winner.

The award carried the Single Record of the Year name until just a few years ago. That’s when it became the Single of the Year award. Dan + Shay‘s “Tequila” was the first song to win under the new title.

Other songs that won the Single of the Year award in the past include:

“God’s Country” by Blake Shelton

“Die a Happy Man” by Thomas Rhett

“Over You” by Miranda Lambert

“Jesus Take the Wheel” by Carrie Underwood

“I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack

“Blue” by LeAnn Rimes

“He Stopped Loving Her Today” by George Jones

Last year, the winning song was “If I Didn’t Love You” by Carrie Underwood and Jason Aldean.
