There’s a place in Cairo, Egypt that gives massages but it’s not like the regular ones, they do it with slithery serpents. Safwat Sedki owns a massage parlor with around 28 different types of non-venomous snakes and he massages folks with them for about 30 minutes.

“The use of snakes is a type of massage, and it has two aims, physical and emotional,” Sedki told Reuters

According to Sedki, the therapy is aimed at using these snakes to improve blood circulation within the client’s body. Using the snakes also provides mental and emotional stimulation because many times it helps the clients release endorphins that make them feel happy. In effect, helping that person regain their confidence and strengthen their immune system.

Sedki charges his clients around 100 Egyptian pounds, which is equal to $6.37 for a 20 or 30-minute session. Sedki said when he first opened up the parlor and introduced snake massage therapy to the public most people were afraid. It took awhile to get people to warm up to the idea of having cold-blooded animals slithering on their face and body.

“They said, ‘Snakes, how can you use snakes?!’ — but once we started explaining to people the benefits of this massage … the idea was accepted by a lot of people, especially those who have a phobia or fear of snakes,” the Sun reported.

Take a look at some footage below from one of Sedki’s snake massage therapy sessions.
