Stevie Nicks Details “Crazy” Medical Emergency That Caused Her To Cancel Concerts
on Jul 28, 2024
A few weeks after a sudden health scare landed her in the emergency room, Stevie Nicks took the stage to fulfill a previously canceled concert.
In a big finish to her long two-year tour, Stevie Nicks performed her last show in Glasgow, Scotland, on Wednesday (July 24).
Her performance came just a few weeks after healing from a recent health problem that forced her to cancel two U.K. shows. The Fleetwood Mac star amazed her fans not only with her great performance but also by openly talking about the strange medical issue that briefly stopped her tour.
Nicks explained the confusing situation that put her in the hospital to the crowd.
“I don’t know what happened. I just got this weird infection, and it just went crazy,” Nicks said.
The “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” singer added that she had come to Glasgow many days before the show was first planned for July 6. But then, on the day of the show, Nicks told her assistant around two in the morning that she needed to go to the emergency room.
The OVO Hydro arena in Glasgow announced on social media a date change for the show. The reason for the concert rescheduling was because of a “leg injury requiring a minor surgical procedure.”

Nicks then spent two days in the hospital. 18 days later, she returned to Glasgow to keep her promise of performing.
“This whole tour, I’ve been fighting what started here,” she told the crowd. “And I would be damned if I wasn’t coming back here to make the show.”
We are happy to hear that Stevie Nicks was able to recover and perform again. See her addressing the Glasgow crowd in the video below.

You certainly can’t say she isn’t one tough rockstar!
Stevie Nicks was actually inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame not once, but twice — first as a member of Fleetwood Mac in 1998, and then as a solo artist in 2019.
Earlier this month, Nicks welcomed Harry Styles to join her at her July 12 London show.
The two sang “Landslide” together, honoring Nicks’ late Fleetwood Mac bandmate and “best friend” Christine McVie.
Stevie Nicks wrote “Landslide” solely, and Fleetwood Mac first featured the song on their self-titled album in 1975. Nicks has said that she wrote the track while contemplating a major life decision – whether to go back to school or continue pursuing a professional music career with her longtime collaborator and romantic partner, guitarist Lindsey Buckingham.
