American Idol Music Supervisor Robin Kaye And Her Husband Were Killed In Their Home On July 10
Five months after Robin Kaye and Thomas Deluca’s murders, there has been an update concerning the suspect charged with the crime.
Robin Kaye served as the music supervisor on nearly 300 episodes of American Idol. Thomas Deluca, her husband, worked as a musician and songwriter.
On July 14, “a concerned individual” called for a welfare check on Kaye and Deluca after not hearing from them in a few days. Authorities arrived at the couple’s home in Encino, California, and found Kaye and Deluca deceased.

Later, authorities obtained surveillance video from July 10 that showed a man entering Kaye and Deluca’s home after climbing over their fence. Kaye and Deluca arrived home 30 minutes later, and seemingly interrupted a burglary in progress.
“There was a confrontation that ensued, which resulted in the victims receiving multiple gunshot wounds and succumbing to those injuries,” LAPD Lieutenant Guy Golan told ABC 7 News at the time.
Police eventually arrested 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian in connection with Kaye and Deluca’s murders. More than a year earlier, authorities charged Boodarian with battery and exhibiting a deadly weapon, but they later dismissed the charges.
ABC 7 News reported that three months before the dismissal, officials had determined Boodarian was mentally incompetent.
Raymond Boodarian Declared “Mentally Incompetent To Stand Trial”
After his arrest as the suspect in the Robin Kaye and Thomas Deluca murder case, Raymond Boodarian will not stand trial.
A new report published by ABC 7 News on December 20 states that authorities found Boodarian “mentally incompetent to stand trial” on the murder charges. As a result, Boodarian received orders for committal to a state hospital.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Maria Cavalluzzi said Boodarian refused to appear at the courthouse and won’t communicate with his attorney. Judge Cavalluzzi also declared that an order to involuntarily medicate Boodarian will remain in effect.
Boodarian was scheduled to be arraigned in August. However, authorities suspended criminal proceedings after Judge Martin Herscovitz expressed doubts about Boodarian’s mental competency “based on his behavior in court.” The judge asked Boodarian several times if he could hear him, but Boodarian never responded.
