Taylor Swift Ties One Of Elvis Presley’s Most Impressive Billboard Chart Records
on Dec 27, 2023
Mega-star Taylor Swift is back on top of the charts and is now set to break a Billboard 200 record set by Elvis Presley.
The global pop star currently holds the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart with her latest re-release, 1989 (Taylor’s Version). This marks the 67th week she has had an album in the top position and that ties her with Presley as the solo artist with the most weeks spent on top of the Billboard 200 chart. If the album maintains its current position at No. 1 for just one more week, Swift will surpass Presley’s record.
Though Swift is approaching a potential record for the most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 among solo artists, she still has a considerable journey ahead to surpass the all-time record. This is currently held by The Beatles, who maintain a significant lead with an impressive 132 weeks at the top of the chart.

How The Billboard 200 Chart Works
The Billboard 200 chart assesses the week’s most popular albums in the U.S., utilizing a multi-metric consumption approach measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. These units encompass album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit is equivalent to either one album sale or the sale of 10 individual tracks from an album.
2023 Has Undoubtedly Been Taylor Swift’s Year
She was named “Person of the Year” by TIME Magazine in December. Swift was picked from a group of nine finalists that included Barbie, King Charles III, and OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman, among others.
Her “Eras Tour” created a sensation in the U.S. and globally, with tickets selling out within minutes of becoming available online. Such was the demand that the U.S. Senate convened a hearing in January to address challenges in the ticket industry, particularly with Ticketmaster, after fans encountered significant difficulties securing tickets.

Adding to her achievements, she also unveiled a movie. The concert film for “The Eras Tour” hit theaters in October, setting records for first-day ticket sales and grossing over $200 million at the box office.
