Dylan Carter, Country Singer And Former Voice Competitor, Has Passed Away
Beloved Voice contestant and former member of Team Reba, Dylan Carter, has died. He was 24 years old.
During his time on The Voice in 2023, the South Carolina native earned a four-chair turn during his audition with Whitney Houston’s “I Look To You.” He ultimately landed a spot on Reba McEntire’s team.

Dylan was the cofounder of The Local Voice, a South Carolina nonprofit focused on providing care to women fighting breast cancer. The cause was dear to the young man as he lost his mother to the disease. The organization confirmed his passing in a post made Sunday (April 26), which read:
“With heavy hearts we share the passing of Dylan Carter, co-founder of The Local Voice, talented musician, and someone who meant so much to our community.
Dylan was the heart of what we do. He believed every voice matters and lived that every day. Through his music, his kindness, and his smile, he brought people together and made everyone feel seen.”
The young musician worked as a realtor and campground owner while still regularly playing gigs around his home state. The statement continued:
“We are heartbroken, but find comfort knowing he is in heaven with his mother. We are so grateful for Dylan, for the love he gave this community, and for the impact he leaves behind. We will carry his light forward and continue this mission in his honor.”
Cause Of Death Revealed
Thomas Hamilton Jr., mayor of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, confirmed that Dylan died in a car accident. He shared that his family is “heartbroken” and wrote:
“As a gifted singer, he frequently entertained our community with his performances at Town events. His kindness and charm earned him immense respect, and his absence will be deeply felt.”
The mayor added:
“The Town of Moncks Corner, its Council, and entire staff extend their deepest sympathies. He was much more to our family than an entertainer, he was our friend and we are deeply saddened.”
