THE VOICE: 23-Year-Old Kenna Elpers Reveals Her Surprising Connection To Riley Green

The first week of Blind Auditions for Season 30 of The Voice has officially ended after the show’s third premiere episode aired on Wednesday night, September 23.
This season, Kelly Clarkson, Riley Green, Queen Latifah, and Adam Levine are the four coaches sitting in the red chairs.
With so much experience performing, they know what it takes to make a great impression on stage. So when a singer wows them, you know they’ve got something special.
One contestant who did just that was 23-year-old country singer Kenna Elpers. Kenna earned two chair turns with her powerful cover of Chris Stapleton’s “White Horse”
Stapleton released the song in 2023 as the lead single from his album Higher. In 2024, it won two Grammys, one for Best Country Song and another for Best Country Solo Performance.
It also won two CMA Awards for Single of the Year and Song of the Year.
As soon as Kenna started singing, it was clear she had the grit of a true country singer. Queen Latifah picked up on it right away and turned her chair just seconds into Kenna’s performance.
The other three coaches were enjoying Kenna’s voice, but it looked like none of them were going to turn their chairs. It seemed like Queen Latifah had this one in the bag… until the very last line of the song.
Riley Green then decided to press his button in an attempt to get Kenna on his team.
This left Green and Queen Latifah battling it out, each making their case for why Kenna should choose them as her coach.

Kenna Elpers Reveals She And Riley Green Have Crossed Paths Before
Kenna is an aspiring country artist, so Green seems like a natural fit. But Queen Latifah was the first coach to believe in her. Plus, she’s an iconic performer who knows what it takes to be a star.
So, who did Kenna choose?
Well, it all came down to the fact that Kenna already had a special connection with one of the coaches. Before revealing which team she wanted to join, she shared that she and Green had actually met before.
It turns out that Kenna opened for Green at a music festival in 2023. She even brought a koozie that Green had signed and given to her at the time.
After that, it wasn’t surprising that she chose Green as her Voice coach.
