“Jolene” Gets 4 Coaches To Turn Their Chairs

Kimmy June from The Voice of Germany walked onto the stage this past week and lit it up with Dolly Parton’s 1973 hit song, “Jolene.” The performance came during her Blind Audition, a part of the show where the coaches have their chairs turned facing away from the singer so they can’t see them until they hit a button to have the chair spin around.

Fortunately for June, her singing and song choice were so good that all four coaches turned their chairs around to see her and take a chance at being her coach. Blown away and smiling from ear to ear at the 4-chair turn, June couldn’t help but be a little excited. However, she locked into her performance and kept singing until everyone was up on their feet cheering for her, ending it with a standing ovation.

The Voice of Germany is a spin-off of the American version of The Voice with coaches Shirin David, Ronan Keating, Bill & Tom Kaulitz, and Giovanni Zarrella leading the charge. Ultimately at the end of her performance, June decided to join Team Ronan and posted a couple of photos to Facebook announcing her big decision, saying, “When dreams come true.”

On another excited Facebook post, June said, “I’m still on the rollercoaster. Got so many lovely and touching messages and reactions. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU. I try to answer them all. Lots of love from a very happy.”

Who Originally Wrote The Song “Jolene”?

The song “Jolene” was indeed written and performed by Dolly Parton, an American country music artist. It was produced by Bob Ferguson and recorded at RCA Studio B in Nashville, Tennessee, on May 22, 1973, and released by RCA Victor on October 15, 1973, as the first single and title track from Dolly Parton’s album, Jolene.

Regarding its recognition, Rolling Stone magazine ranked “Jolene” at No. 217 on their list of “the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time” in 2004. Additionally, the song climbed to No. 63 on their revised list in 2021. One more fun fact for you – It’s true that Dolly Parton has mentioned that “Jolene” is her most-covered song.

Overall, we’re happy to see June move onto the next stage of the show and it’s even better that she used Dolly’s “Jolene” to do it. Excellent performance June! Everyone can watch her cover the song in the video below.
