Over A Ton Of Breakfast Pork Sausage Recalled In Four States
on

Over a ton of raw, frozen pork breakfast sausage products have been recalled.
On Sept. 25, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that the Illinois-based Fontanini Foods LLC had distributed potentially contaminated goods to four states.
In total, the recall hones in on approximately 2,320 pounds of raw, frozen pork breakfast sausage products.
The meat may be contaminated with a foreign material, which the FSIS recall announcement details is the potential presence of clear, hard plastic inside the product.
Fontanini Foods LLC issued the recall after it received two customer complaints regarding the discovery of plastic inside the sausage.
While there have not yet been reported injuries from this potential contamination, the FSIS says it “is concerned that some product may be in food service and restaurant freezers.”
Further, the FSIS advises the following:
“Food service establishments and restaurants are urged not to serve this product. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.”
Recalled breakfast sausages were shipped in 10-pound cardboard box cases containing “Fontanini PORK SAUSAGE LINKS,” marked with “ITEM 393” printed on the box, with the shipping label noting it was “PACKED ON 06/23/2026.”
The products in question also have an establishment number of “EST. 6944.”
The four states that these products were distributed to are:
- California;
- Florida;
- Michigan; and
- Nevada.
This is a developing story.
