Vince Gill Invites Charlie Worsham To Be The Newest Member Of The Grand Ole Opry

Country music singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Charlie Worsham has built a successful career in Nashville.
The Mississippi native developed his musical talents at a young age. By the time he was 12, he had won a junior national banjo championship and performed on the Grand Ole Opry stage.
Worsham released his debut album, Rubberband, in 2013. He has continued releasing music while working as a songwriter and collaborator with some of country music’s biggest names. He has recorded with some major artists including Kenny Chesney, Luke Combs and Dierks Bentley.
Worsham’s talents have earned him significant recognition within the country music industry. He was named CMA Musician of the Year and CMA Touring Musician of the Year in 2024, in addition to being a two-time ACM Acoustic Guitar Player of the Year.
Charlie Worsham To Release New Album
Worsham is entering a new chapter in his career with the upcoming release of Once Upon A Second Time Around, his first full-length album as an independent artist.
The album is set to arrive on August 7 through a new partnership with independent music company ONErpm. The project follows Worsham’s years with Warner Music Nashville and represents a significant step forward as he takes greater creative control over his music.
Worsham has already given fans a taste of what’s to come with the release of “Wrap My Porch Around.” The song was released on July 3 and Worsham shared a bit of backstory on the song on his social media.
“ever since i first heard Vince Gill’s High Lonesome Sound, i’ve wanted to honor my bluegrass roots by recording not one but TWO versions of a song.. one country, one bluegrass,” Worsham wrote on Instagram.

On Friday, August 7, Worsham’s longtime dreams became a reality when country music legend Vince Gill surprised him with an invitation to become the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry.
What made the moment even more special was Gill extended the surprise invitation from the Ryman Auditorium stage, exactly 20 years to the day since Worsham moved to Nashville.
Gill said he was “beyond thrilled” to help Worsham “fulfill a dream,” adding that the talented musician deserved the opportunity more than anyone.
Worsham shook his head in disbelief before giving Gill a heartfelt hug.
