Sometimes, the second time really is the charm.

Brandon Diaz, a 29-year-old singer with a dream of making it on The Voice, knows firsthand just how difficult it can be to get a chair to turn. When he first auditioned for the hit singing competition during Season 4, Diaz walked onto the stage hoping to impress the coaches, but ultimately left without a single chair turn.

“I did not get a chair turn,” Diaz told TV Line recently. “I remember being so nervous. I didn’t really know myself as an artist. I was still figuring things out.”

Years later, Diaz decided he wasn’t ready to give up on that dream.

Now, he’s back on The Voice, and this time, he delivered a performance the coaches couldn’t ignore.

Brandon Diaz Delivered A Memorable Audition On The Voice

During his return to the show, Diaz took the stage once again for his Blind Audition. Unlike his first attempt, this time his voice immediately caught the attention of the coaches, resulting in two chairs turning for the 29-year-old singer.

Diaz sang an incredible rendition of “Drink You Away,” which country fans might know from the iconic Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake CMA Awards performance.

His Season 4 audition may not have ended the way he hoped, but instead of allowing that disappointment to stop him, Diaz continued pursuing music and working on his craft. His return proves that sometimes rejection isn’t the end of the story — it’s simply another chapter.

Queen Latifah was the first coach to turn around for him, and Kelly Clarkson was not too far behind. They both were ecstatic to battle it out for the singer.

Brandon Revealed His Other Connection To The Voice

“This is actually not my first time on this stage. I was here a decade ago, Adam you were there,” he revealed to the judges.

But that wasn’t his only prior connection to The Voice!

“Kelly, and Adam, my wife is Jackie Foster,” he revealed to them.

“Oh wow!” Kelly exclaimed!

If you recall, Jackie auditioned for Season 14 of The Voice and started on Team Kelly. After losing her Battle Round, she was stolen by Adam Levine! Her journey continued into the Knockout Rounds, where she was stolen by Alicia Keys.

She made it through to the Live Playoffs and America kept her in all the way to the semifinals.

The coaches asked for Jackie to come out and join Brandon on stage so they could say hi. While she was with him, he chose his coach: Queen Latifah!

She seemed surprised by his choice, but ecstatic nonetheless! Queen felt that his confidence was incredible and he “owned that song from the beginning.”
