Family’s Golden Retriever Adopts Goats As Her Own Puppies

When Kansas resident Andrea Holley brought a few goats home to her farm, she expected that she’d need to mother them until they grew a little older. However, she wasn’t surprised when her golden retriever, Loryn, wanted to take on some of the mothering duties as well. The golden retriever immediately took to the young goats, taking them in as if they were her own puppies.

Referring to Loryn, Holley shared, “She’s around all the farm animals all the time, so she’s seen it all. She is truly a mother hen and takes in every baby we have here as her own.” Holley went on to say that while Loryn is a mother figure on the farm, she fell harder for the baby goats than any other animals they’ve taken in before.

The motherly golden not only snuggles baby goats Mia, Henry, Delilah, and Daisy Mae – she also made sure they never leave her sight. Holley said, “She most definitely thinks they are her babies.”

The goats were still being bottle-fed by Holley, and spent some of their time hanging out in a playpen inside the house. The babies started to hop out of their playpen at one point, and Loryn was always nearby to make sure they didn’t go too far.
