The Dallas Cowboys emerged victorious over the Washington Commanders with a commanding score of 45-10. However, for many, the standout winner of the evening was none other than Dolly Parton, who graced the halftime show with a sensational performance.
Dolly, at the age of 77, captivated millions as she took the stage donning the iconic Dallas Cowboys cheerleader outfit. She performed a few of her classics like “Jolene” and “9 to 5,” before seamlessly transitioning into her cover performances of Queen’s, “We Are the Champions” and “We Will Rock You.”
Dolly included both her Queen covers in her recently launched album, Rockstar, which has now achieved the highest chart position in her illustrious career.
During the week prior to her iconic halftime performance, Dolly was escorted by Peyton Manning onto the field in Knoxville, Tennessee, after the first quarter of the Volunteers vs Bulldogs game. Her appearance came just one day after she released her highly anticipated rock album, Rockstar.
Dolly actually released a “Vols Edition” of the album, which includes a live performance of “Rocky Top.”

This year marks the 27th edition of the Red Kettle Kickoff, and in anticipation of her performance on Thanksgiving Day, Dolly made the generous announcement that she would be contributing $1 million to support the Salvation Army.
“The love and the giving is what it should be about.”

While Dolly’s halftime performance and attire garnered admiration from many, there was some criticism. The majority of the negative feedback centered around the belief that Dolly’s outfit was overly revealing, particularly considering her age in the 70s.
Responding to these critics on X (formerly Twitter), Dolly’s sister, Stella Parton, strongly defended her older sibling, stating:
“I personally thought my big sister Dolly was cute as hell in her Dallas Cowboys cheerleading costume at the half time show on Thanksgiving. To those of you being so critical of a 77 year old kicking up her heels, I say f— yourself. Shame on you not her.”
