Brandon Sklenar rose to fame playing Spencer Dutton on the Yellowstone prequel series 1923. But what does the 34-year-old actor have planned now that the show is over?

1923 released its Season 2 finale on Sunday, April 6. The emotional episode finally reunited long-lost lovers Spencer Dutton (played by Brandon Sklenar) and Alexandra Dutton (played by Julia Schlaepfer). But their happiness was short-lived.
Alex, who had been stranded outside in the cold after the car she was traveling in ran out of gas, suffered severe frostbite. She was rushed to the hospital in Bozeman, where she gave birth to her and Spencer’s son, John, a few months premature.
Doctors concluded that Alex needed to have both legs and one of her hands amputated to save her life. But she refused the surgery, and she sadly passed away.
The devasting episode wrecked Brandon and Julia when they read the scripts. Brandon told Variety:
“I mean, I couldn’t even prep that episode. I couldn’t read it without losing my s— and crying, genuinely. It just became this chunk in my [script] book that I couldn’t look at. Those final scenes where she and I are in the hospital together, I was just reading those lines and I’m like, ‘How did [show creator Taylor Sheridan] come up with this…'”
Brandon said just thinking about those lines and that scene makes him emotional even today.
Where Can You See Brandon Sklenar Now That 1923 Is Over?
Brandon’s popularity skyrocketed three years ago after he first started playing Spencer Dutton in 1923. But now that it’s been confirmed the show will not have a third season, what does he have planned next?
You can actually see Brandon in another project in just a few days. He stars in a new film, titled Drop, which debuts in theaters on Friday (April 11). His co-stars include Meghann Fahy, Violett Beane, and Jacob Robinson.

Brandon will then appear in another movie, which will be released later this year. He’ll star in the thriller The Housemaid, co-starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried. He’s also attached to other projects, including The Rescue and After Shock. Not much is known about either of those works as of press time.
There’s also a chance you may see Brandon in another show in the Yellowstone universe. When asked if he’d be willing to appear in the next prequel series, 1944, he said:
“Listen, I know that ‘1944’ is a thing that they are planning on doing here, and maybe we see Spencer in ‘1944.’ That is something I would be interested in doing.”
