Where Do The Robertsons Stand With Phil’s Secret Daughter, Phyllis?
on Aug 30, 2023
This dynasty stands strong even when a family bombshell is thrown at them.
Phil’s family recently opened up in an exclusive interview with E! News three years after he discovered he had a daughter resulting from a past affair. Duck Dynasty Patriarch Phil Robertson learned back in 2020 that he had a daughter he never knew about. After Phyllis Thomas came into the picture, she took a DNA test to determine if Phil really was her father after all. The results changed the Robertson family forever—she was a 99.9 percent match with Phil. The Robertson boys, Willie, Jep, Jase, and Alan, welcomed their newfound sister with open arms.
Many have wondered where the family stands with Phyllis today.
According to Sadie and Korie, Phil’s granddaughter and daughter-in-law, the family is closer than they have ever been. Sadie told Francesca Amiker with E! News that she recently had a lunch date with Phyllis where they caught up. Sadie said, “It was so good. I was just sitting with her like, ‘This is so crazy! I’m talking to my aunt that I didn’t know for so long, but now you’re my dad’s sister.'”
“It’s such a beautiful thing that we get to have this relationship,” The Duck Dynasty star continued.
Korie gave Kay Robertson, Phil’s wife and high school sweetheart, the credit for the family’s amazing dynamics.
“Whenever Phyllis came into the family and we found out, Kay, from day one, just welcomed her with opened arms. She became part of the family very early on,” Korie recalled.
Since Phyllis entered the picture, she has been invited to various Robertson get-togethers such as Christmas dinner and a special family preview of The Blind.
The Blind
“The Blind” is an upcoming movie set to be in theaters September 28, 2023. This movie will tell about Phil’s struggles with alcoholism, and it also details how his early infidelity took a toll on his marriage to Kay before he turned his life around.
While the film tells Phil’s story, Korie says, “It’s even more so about Kay and her life story. Kay had to choose to forgive him.”

“That choice to forgive is so powerful. Forgiveness is a powerful thing in any of our lives—no matter if it’s as big as what Phil and Kay went through or smaller. In marriage and in life, you have to be able to forgive and move forward,” Korie continued.
Sadie credited Kay’s selfless choice to forgive Phil years ago for allowing the Duck Dynasty matriarch to welcome Phyllis so easily.
“If grandma Kay hadn’t forgiven Phil 40 years ago, there’s no way she could’ve welcomed Phyllis with open arms like that,” the Dancing With the Stars alum shared. “She already knew everything that happened—she didn’t know there was a daughter, but she knew how bad it was—and there was a lot of confessions, repentance, forgiveness.”
The 26-year-old added that forgiveness helped them realize that “something beautiful came out” of a hard time.
“If you’re willing to walk through the hard things,” she said, “walk past that regret, you can open your heart to receive the beautiful things.”
Kay shared an emotional picture on instagram capturing the raw emotion she felt when she watched “The Blind” for the first time.
The caption reads, “Yes, there are tears in my eyes in this photo, but I’m not sure if they’re tears of joy or sadness. It all depends on when the camera was snapped. This picture was taken of me as I watched The Blind for the very first time, and my emotions were all over the place. I laughed, cried, and cried some more through the entire film. I can’t wait for you to see it September 28th. There were definitely some hard moments to watch, but more than anything I’m overwhelmed by God’s love. His love changed our lives forever, and it still blows me away when I think about it. I’d say by the look on Phil’s face that he would agree. Thank you Jesus for your redeeming love!”
