The family of beloved 80s rocker Bonnie Tyler has shared an update on her condition, one month after being placed in a medically induced coma.

Bonnie Tyler Experiences A Medical Emergency Resulting In A Coma

Last month, Bonnie Tyler underwent emergency intestinal surgery after experiencing a medical crisis while in Portugal. She was placed in a medically induced coma following the procedure to stabilize her condition while she recovered.

On May 12th, the family issued a statement confirming that Bonnie remained in “seriously ill but stable in hospital in Faro, however her doctors are still positive that she will make a full recovery.”

Additionally, they dispelled any rumors circulating online regarding her condition and assured fans that another official statement would be issued when there were updates to report.

The 73-year-old artist is known for her chart-topping anthems like “Holding Out for a Hero” and “Total Eclipse of the Heart.” She became one of the most recognizable voices in rock and pop music during the 1980s.

New Update Reveals Bonnie Tyler Is Awake But Remains “Unwell”

As promised, the family shared an update on Bonnie Tyler’s health on Monday, June 15th, one month after the medical emergency. They revealed that the vocalist is no longer in a coma, but “remains very unwell.”

The statement explains that while Bonnie is improving, her recovery will be a “slow process.” She will continue to be treated in the intensive care unit in a hospital in Portugal. They added:

“Her doctors remain confident that she will make a good recovery but it is going to take time.”

Summer Tour Canceled

Bonnie Tyler had scheduled performances later this summer and into the fall for her Jubilee Tour. Due to the circumstances, all remaining shows through the end of August have been canceled or indefinitely postponed.

The family apologizes on Bonnie’s behalf for the disappointment that the cancellations may cause, but maintains that they are hopeful she will return to the stage this fall.

Finally, they express gratitude for the support of her fans during this difficult time, writing:

“We would like to thank everyone for the huge outpouring of love and support from all over the world that we have received for Bonnie and want to tell you that she is aware of, and very grateful for, your good wishes.”
