“Yellowstone” Cast Reacts To Kevin Costner’s Golden Globe Win

Yellowstone and its stars have not received a lot of recognition at awards shows. Until recently, even its lead actor Kevin Costner had never received a nomination for playing John Dutton on the hit series.

The entire Yellowstone cast was nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series at the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards, but they lost. Finally, Costner scored an individual nomination at the 2023 Golden Globe Awards in the Best Actor – Television Series Drama category.

Unfortunately, Costner was unable to attend the ceremony on Tuesday (January 10) due to the severe flooding in his area. He addressed his absence in a video he posted on social media, saying:

“…I’m so sorry for everyone who might’ve been tuning in to watch the Golden Globes. [His wife] Chris and I aren’t gonna be able to be there…yesterday, we had to pull the kids out of school in Santa Barbara. This is the second time in five years…the freeways are flooded out, we found ourselves on the wrong side of the town. We couldn’t get back last night, we couldn’t even get back to the house this morning in time with the freeways closed. Nobody’s sadder than us that we can’t be there at the Golden Globes.”

It’s a shame Costner couldn’t make it to the Golden Globes…because he ended up winning the award! The actor shared his thanks on social media after winning.

“Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press and @goldenglobes for this tremendous honor and to the @Yellowstone team for bringing John Dutton’s world to life,” he said. “I share this recognition with my castmates, the producers, and our incredible crew. Most of all, thank you to our show’s fans, who love Yellowstone Ranch as if it were their own.”

Yellowstone also shared a post celebrating Costner’s win. They said, “Congratulations, @kevincostnermodernwest!!! Let’s go to work!” Costner responded, “Thank you @yellowstone.”

Several of Costner’s Yellowstone co-stars reacted to his win in the comments of the show’s post:

“THRILLED for you @kevincostnermodernwest !!” wrote Finn Little, who plays Carter.

“KFC!!!! So overdue!!!” said Hassie Harrison, who plays Laramie.

“Wow wow wow!!!!” wrote Jennifer Landon, who plays Teeter.

“Woo hoo!! Congrats!! @kevincostnermodernwest,” said Wendy Moniz, who plays Governor Perry.

“YESSS! Well deserved @kevincostnermodernwest,” wrote Rob Kirkland, who plays Sheriff Ramsey.

“Woohoo!!!!!!” said Brecken Merrill, who plays Tate.
