David Frizzell & Shelly West Leave Crowds Speechless With Dazzling Duet

Dominating the ’80s country charts, this pair became known as one of country music’s greatest duets with their home-run hit, “You’re The Reason God Made Oklahoma”

Shelly West & David Frizzell triumphed in 1981 when they issued one of the most iconic country hits to have ever graced our ears. Their unmatched skill and chemistry was undeniable, earmarking the track as a timeless classic.

Frizzell, the younger brother of fellow country star Lefty Frizzell and West, the daughter of country legend Dottie West, were clearly born to be superstars!

The same year that their hit, “You’re The Reason God Made Oklahoma” hit the top of the country charts, the pair earned the CMA’s Song Of The Year and Vocal Duet Of The Year awards, while also being featured in Clint Eastwood’s, Any Which Way You Can

The chart-topping hit was written by Larry Collins and Sandy Pinkard about a couple who are apart, one living in Oklahoma and one who lives in Los Angeles. The track tells a story of the man who’s working in Oklahoma while his lover moved to Los Angeles and they are expressing how much they miss each other.
