Even though Dolly Parton and her husband, Carl Dean, have been together for 49 years, Dean has always been a subject of mystery. Dean has never been interviewed, and there's only been 20 photographs published of him and Parton together.
But Parton says in a interview with Parade that Dean's desire to stay out of the spotlight doesn't make her love him any less, and she realizes he's just a different person than her.
"I married a really good man, a guy that’s completely different from me," Dolly gushes. "He loves to hear about the things I do. I love to hear about the things he does. So we enjoy each other’s company."

When Parton was asked where she was the happiest, she didn't hesitate to say that she finds a great deal of happiness in spending time with her husband.
"I’m also very happy when I’m home with him and we do our little things together," Parton says. "We have a little RV, we travel around. We drive through these little drive-through restaurants. We sight-see all of Tennessee and Kentucky, the areas that we can get back home from at night."

The interviewer was curious to know how Parton manages to stay with Dean when she's met so many glamorous men throughout her career. Dolly says the answer is really simple:
"He understands me, he gets me. He’s very secure within himself. He’s never been jealous. It’s a great compliment to me. This is his statement: 'Well, hell, I know it’s not easy out there. I’d feel less about any man that didn’t fall in love with you.' So that’s his attitude. Because of that, I realize I’d never find that again in anybody. He loves me and I love him."
With their 50th anniversary approaching in May, Parton says they are trying to figure out if they'd like to renew their vows to celebrate the occasion. But one thing's already known about their 50th anniversary, Dean will make an appearance on stage with Parton for the very first time.

Even though not much is known about Dean, one thing is certain, he makes Parton very happy, "We get along good," Parton says. "He’s got a great sense of humor. We’ve just been best buddies and best friends and, evidently, it’s working!"
We'd agree with Parton, it's definitely working! We wish her and Dean many more years of happiness together.
