Umpire Gets Knocked Out During Alabama Vs. Vanderbilt Game (X/Barstool Sports)

Game 2 Of SEC Series Delayed Due To Umpire Injury

The Vanderbilt and Alabama baseball game was temporarily halted after an umpire was hit in the head by a foul ball. The umpire knocked out as a result of the incident. Medical staff immediately rushed onto the field to assess the situation.

The delay lasted for roughly 15 minutes, with both teams retreating to their dugouts while the umpire, who was later identified as Scott Kennedy, received treatment.

According to NCAA rules, a game can continue if one umpire is injured but the remaining are able to perform their duties. The second base ump replaced Kennedy once he left the field.

The game was part of a three series matchup at Sewell-Thomas Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The Crimson Tide went on to win the game 5-0.

Alabama’s coach Rob Vaughn gave as much of an update as possible on the umpire following the win, saying he was “hoping” he was okay.

“Getting a report from our trainers later. I think he’s okay and doing better,” Vaughn said.
