Garth Brooks Stops Secret Show Twice After Fans Need Medical Attention

Garth Brooks performed under the pseudonym Yukon Jack on Thursday (September 3) at a small venue in preparation for his four-night sold-out stint at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado.
On August 31st, the name “Yukon Jack” appeared on the marquee at Denver’s country music haunt The Grizzly Rose.

The venue’s social media also teased the performance on social media, saying, “Y’all really don’t want to miss Yukon Jack performing this Thursday.”
While they did not announce a time for the show, they did say that no one would be permitted to start lining up until 4pm.
Many different outlets speculated that Yukon Jack was actually Garth Brooks due to some clues. For one, the superstar was in town to perform for the next three nights on his Blame It All On My Roots arena tour. Secondly, he previously performed under the name Yukon Jack many years ago. Lastly, he performed at The Grizzly Rose very early in his career.
And, as it turns out…Garth Brooks IS Yukon Jack! Brooks was born in Yukon, Oklahoma and while we don’t have a definitive answer as to why he used the last name Jack, he has worked with several different men named Jack so it could be a tip of the hat to any one of them.
The Crowd Waited In 90 Degree Heat For Hours
While fans weren’t allowed to line up until 4pm, many got there before that to ensure they could get a spot in line, and seeing as though The Grizzly Rose has a max capacity of 2,100, only a percentage of those in line were actually going to get in.
According to comments on social media from those who were lucky enough to go inside, they waited out in the heat for five hours with temperatures reaching over 90 degrees.
Adams County Fire Rescue has firefighters on the scene distributing water from the get go and treated around 25 people for heat related issues and dehydration.
After the event, the fire department shared video of their team helping concert goers throughout the evening, revealing that they transported a total of three people to the hospital.
“While we cannot predict certain events, we can predict and try to mitigate others. As soon as we learned of Garth Brook’s performance at the Grizzly Rose, we developed an operational plan to have multiple apparatus and firefighters on scene to address any issues that might arise, which is exactly what happened,” they wrote. “Three people were ultimately transferred to a local hospital with heat exhaustion, and our firefighters estimate they assisted approximately 25 people for heat exhaustion/dehydration as well.”
Brooks took a photo with the crew after the concert, thanking them for their hard work.

Brooks performed a 16-song set that included his hits “Much Too Young (to Feel This Damn Old),” “Shameless,” “The River,” “Callin’ Baton Rouge,” “The Dance,” and “Friends In Low Places.”

During two of the songs, Brooks actually stopped singing and asked his band to follow his lead while he pointed out two fans that needed medical attention.
He first paused the show 13 songs in, during “The Dance.” A man in a red zip up hoodie was escorted out to receive more medical attention.
Three songs later, during the finale song “Friends In Low Places,” Brooks stopped once again when he saw a woman had fainted to his left. At first, the audience began booing, but after he asked the crowd to make room for medics to get to her, they realized how serious the situation was. She was carried out of the venue moments later.
Brooks asked the crowd to give the first responders a round of applause.
A woman named R Naomi Murphy on Facebook revealed herself as the woman who fainted during the show. She said that after five hours of waiting outside in the heat, three hours inside where it wasn’t that cool, there being no food, she was extremely dehydrated, had low blood sugar, and heat exhaustion.
She says she is “all good now,” and even attended Brooks’ Saturday night show in Denver.
