LIST: Every Song Garth Brooks Sang To Start His New Arena Tour, Including A Keith Whitley Cover

On July 7, Garth Brooks unveiled his plans to embark on his Blame It All On My Roots arena tour. The trek marks his return to arenas after performing in stadiums in recent years and harkens back to his iconic 1996 arena tour.
Brooks has spent the past two months announcing one tour stop at a time, for a total of four so far: Indianapolis, Denver, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.
The tour kicked off at Indianapolis’ Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Thursday, August 20. Billboard took note of every song Brooks performed that night, which included a wealth of ’90s hits.
In fact, Brooks didn’t perform a single song on the opening night of his tour that had been released after 1997.

As you can see, there were a few covers tossed into the mix, including a version of Keith Whitley‘s “Ten Feet Away.” Whitley released the song in June 1986, and it reached #9 on the Hot Country Songs chart.

Garth Brooks Switched Up The Setlist For His Next Shows On The Blame It All On My Roots Arena Tour
Garth Brooks performed three more shows in Indianapolis following the kickoff on August 20. After the setlist from opening night was shared online, he made it his mission to switch things up for the subsequent shows.
“I saw the setlist posted everywhere after the first night,” Brooks said in a statement posted to his website. “So it was up to us to make EACH of the following nights their own show. We owed that to them.”
He continued to accept fan requests, which naturally brought a unique and unexpected element to each concert.
Reflecting on his overall experience in Indianapolis, particularly on opening night, Brooks said:
“THIS is how you start a tour!!! INDY…night one of four, and you absolutely blew the roof off this place!”
Brooks’ tour will take him to Denver next, where he’ll perform on September 4-6. He’ll deliver both a matinee and evening show on September 6, for a total of four concerts in the “The Mile High City.”
From there, Brooks will put on four shows in Chicago from September 10-13, and two shows in Washington, D.C. from September 18-19.
