“American Idol” Winner Iam Tongi Is Married – See Inside His Stunning Hawaiian Ceremony

American Idol fan favorite Iam Tongi is a married man!
Tongi and his longtime girlfriend, Leah Solis, said “I do” during a beautiful ceremony in Hawaii on Friday, September 4.
Tongi has grown up a lot since his time on American Idol. In 2023, he made a massive impression when he auditioned with a rendition of James Blunt’s “Monsters.” He dedicated the performance to his late father, who had passed away just months before.
His cover went viral, and to this day, it remains the most-watched Idol audition in the show’s history. Tongi continued to wow the judges and viewers all the way to the end and was crowned the winner of Season 21.
He was the first Pacific Islander to win the competition.

Tongi and Solis had been dating for two years before he proposed in December 2025.
Their wedding ceremony took place in Tongi’s hometown of Kahuku, Hawaii. Friends and family later shared photos and videos of the special day.
The celebration included nods to his heritage. Tongi wore a traditional tupenu, which is a wrapped garment worn by the people of Tonga during special occasions. He paired it with a light blue button-up shirt, a cream-colored tie, and flip-flops.
“It was a beautiful day. Everything that could go wrong, went wrong, but that didn’t stop us from celebrating Mr and Mrs Tongi,” Iam’s mother, Lillie, wrote on Instagram. “Congrats and so happy to add another daughter to the crew. Love you Leah Tongi❤️ there’s no turning back now and here’s to eternity”

The party took place outdoors under a large white tent. As guests walked in, they were greeted by a table displaying photos of the couple.
We also got to see the moment they cut their beautiful three-tier wedding cake. It was decorated with green and white flowers and featured a small water fountain underneath.
They had multiple traditional Tongan dance performances throughout the night. Some were by professional dancers, and others included the bride and groom along with their friends and family.
One of the sweetest moments captured on camera was when Tongi and Solis came together for their first dance as husband and wife. They slow-danced to Nat King Cole’s “When I Fall in Love.”
