Later that same year, Billie Jean married country singer, Johnny Horton. Not even seven years later, Johnny lost his life in a tragic car accident, leaving Billie Jean widowed for the second time.

Billie Jean was devastated and decided to put her feelings into a song, and in 1961, she released the heartfelt song “Ocean of Tears“. The song was a huge hit for Billie Jean, peaking in the top 40 of the Billboard charts.

The song talks about the passing of both of Billie Jean’s husbands, which some people may consider controversial. In the song, Billie Jean expresses her feelings, saying, “Now I’m drifting on an ocean of my tears / Oh how I’d love to anchor in the Heaven of your heart / Where the tide of jealousy could never drift us far apart“.
