Throughout the twelve seasons of The Voice, fans have seen multiple changes in superstar coaches. However, the most recent shakeup in which it was announced that Oscar and Grammy-winning singer Jennifer Hudson and music icon Kelly Clarkson were signing on for the singing competition, may have been the biggest yet.

Veteran coach Blake Shelton, who has been on every season of the show, has a lot of thoughts on the incoming coaches, including returning coach Miley Cyrus. So what does the country singer think about the show’s most recent choice of coaches? While the singer says he’s grateful for the critically-acclaimed singers joining the cast, he has a few concerns.

Prior to the taping of the finale of Season 12 of NBC’s The Voice, the country singer and Alicia Keys met up with Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet to discuss their feelings on the new leading ladies of the series.

“Well, I can tell you that I used to think Miley Cyrus would be the person that talks the most, ever in the history of this show,” Shelton shared prior to taping Monday night’s show. “Now that they brought in Kelly Clarkson… oh, my God. Oh, my God. Thank God they are at least on different seasons because my ears would fall off my head. There would be no oxygen left in the room. Neither one of them can stop talking.”

On the other side of the matter, Keys, who recently revealed she won’t be returning to the show, is excited for Clarkson to join the show in Season 14 because as the original winner of American Idol she can act as a guide for the contestant’s on the show.

So will Shelton – who has five wins and counting – be helping the new coaches navigate the show?

I could give a crap about helping them,” he said jokingly. “I don’t have any advice. I’m not helping them. I don’t want them to succeed. That’s not what they pay me to do.”

The upcoming seasons are shaping up to be the most competitive yet! You can watch the fiery interview below!
