“What I Never Knew I Always Wanted” is arguably one of Carrie Underwood‘s most candid and heartfelt singles. The song was written by Underwood about the two men in her life – husband, Mike Fisher, and their son, Isaiah.

“I never really pictured myself getting married and I guess I never really — I always assumed a family was in the future, but I wasn’t, you know, ‘Oh my gosh, I can’t wait to have kids,’ and I kind of took a more laid-back approach to the whole thing,” Underwood told ABC in 2015. “Now I couldn’t imagine my life without either one of them.”

Her tribute appears as the last track of the singer’s fifth studio album, Storyteller, and was the backbone of her highly successful tour, Carrie Underwood: The Storyteller Tour – Stories In The Round. During the tour, a video of rarely seen family photos and videos played behind Underwood as she performed “What I Never Knew I Always Wanted.” Now the singer has released the video taken from her recently-released live concert film, Carrie Underwood: The Storyteller Tour – Stories In The Round, Live from Madison Square Garden.

The video includes photos from her courtship and marriage to Mike Fisher and never before released pictures of little Isaiah as an infant. Fans can also see intimate mother-son moments shared between Carrie and Isaiah.
