One of the most beautiful (and most covered) songs in country music is none other than Vince Gill‘s “Go Rest High On That Mountain.”
Gill started writing the song in 1989 following the death of fellow country star Keith Whitley. After his brother died years later, Gill finished the tune that would go on to become his signature song.
Since it’s release in 1994, the emotional ballad has become one of the most covered songs in country music history. While we’ve heard numerous impressive covers over the years, a recently released rendition by a junior high student has stolen our hearts.
The student, Callista Clark, posted a video of the cover to social media on Monday (June 12) and it quickly garnered more than 7 million views and 200K shares.
The video shows Callista strumming her guitar while sitting in a chair outside. As the teen begins to sing, it’s clear that she has been blessed with an incredible gift. With a voice of one twice her age, Clark instantly entrances the listener with her powerful delivery and smooth vocals.
