One week after the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history, Jason Aldean returned to Las Vegas. Aldean was on stage performing at the Route 91 Harvest Festival when a gunman opened fire from a window at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, killing 58 and injuring more than 500.
Aldean and his wife, Brittany, flew to Vegas Sunday (October 8) to visit some of the shooting victims that remain hospitalized. Brittany shared a heartbreaking photo of her and Jason, standing with their arms around each other, looking toward the Mandalay Bay Resort.
“Feels surreal being back in Vegas today. Visiting some of the strongest people we have ever met… fighting the toughest battle of them all… for their lives,” the expectant mom wrote. “You have helped us try to begin the healing process by seeing the strength each one of you have. Thank you for today. We will never forget.”

The trip to Las Vegas was, no doubt, an emotional one for the couple. Brittany was in Las Vegas when the shooting took place, but wasn’t with Jason. She recounted the events surrounding the tragedy in a heartfelt Instagram post days after the shooting.
“When the gunfire started, I was not with Jason, but with some friends in a tent closer to Mandalay. As you can imagine my first instinct was to run to him and his was the same. As we laid behind equipment on stage with some of our road family, bullets flying past…all I could think was ‘I never even got to hold my baby,'” Brittany wrote. “I can’t put into words the pain and heartache we feel for the ones who are no longer with us.”
Jason Aldean cancelled his scheduled concerts this weekend out of “respect for the victims, their families and our fans, it is the right thing to do. It has been an emotional time for everyone involved this week, so we plan to take some time to mourn the ones we have lost and be close with our family and friends.” Aldean will resume his tour next weekend (October 12) in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
