It’s set to be a brutal week for
‘The Voice’ contestants as the field of twenty-four is cut to twelve. During Monday’s episode, coaches Blake Shelton and Alicia Keys said goodbye to half of their team members. Adam Levine and Gwen Stefani will do the same on Tuesday.
Monday’s live playoff round presented some of the best and worst performances of the season. The “do or die” pressure of the live round left some contestants struggling, while others emerged as serious contenders. One of those who is quickly becoming the season’s frontrunner is Lauren Duski.
Duski, a member of Team Blake, earned enough votes from the audience to send her to next week’s Top 12 after her beautiful cover of
Bryan White‘s “Someone Else’s Star.” The 25-year old Michigan native has proven herself as a die-hard country artist throughout the season with performances of Little Big Town’s “Better Man” and “When You Say Nothing At All,” a song made popular by both Keith Whitley and Alison Krauss.
But, it was Monday’s performance of “Someone Else’s Star” that set Lauren Duski apart from the rest. Her soulful, warm vocals were a perfect match for the 1995 ballad that has a place in history as Bryan White’s first chart-topping single.
