“Malibu” debuted earlier this month, marking Miley Cyrus‘ return to music following her 2015 album Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz. The breezy love song inspired by her reunion with Liam Hemsworth quickly joined the Top 25 on the pop charts, praised for the new sound that was vastly different from her past work.

The massive success of “Malibu” has left fans begging for more new music from the 24-year-old popstar, and lucky for them, she is doing just that. As part of her promotion tour for “Malibu,” Miley stopped by the Today Show to perform for her New York-based fans, as well as debut her latest song “Inspired” about father Billy Ray Cyrus.

“Was so happy to sing ‘Inspired’ today for the amazing fans who waited all night in the rain,” wrote Miley via Instagram. “Reminded me of the valuable lessons my dad [Billy Ray Cyrus] taught us… Never Give Up… I’ll never forget his favorite saying ‘A trying time is no time to quit trying’.”

Keeping in tune with her slowed down singer-songwriter theme, Miley performed her emotional pop ballad sure to bring a few tears to the eyes of her father. Reacting to his daughter’s sweet new song, Billy Ray reposted the performance of the video to his Instagram, writing, “Just had to stop this crazy ride for a second and ponder. Full Circle…Hope was always your destiny.”

You can watch the emotional performance below.
