Karen Waldrup Advances To Top 12 Of “The Voice”

The Voice / Facebook

On Monday night’s (April 22) episode of The Voice, the remaining five members of Team Legend and Team Dan + Shay performed. At the end of the episode, each coach chose three team members to move forward into the live shows.

For Team Dan + Shay, Karen Waldrup was up first with a cover of Lainey Wilson’s “Heart Like A Truck.”

All four coaches were visibly impressed by her during her performances. The coaches gave her feedback afterward, and Reba McEntire reminded her that she wanted Waldrup to be on her team but was blocked by Dan + Shay!

Her coaches couldn’t have been more proud. Shay Mooney said, “Karen set the bar so high,” with Dan Smyers adding, “This was my favorite performance of yours so far!”

Waldrup’s fellow teammates Anya True, Olivia Rubini, Tae Lewis, and Madison Curbelo performed after her, all earning their own praise from their coaches. At the end of the episode, John Legend and Dan + Shay chose three singers from their teams to move to the next round, which is the love show where the TV audience will be able to start voting for them.

Did Karen move on the the Top 12 of The Voice?

John Legend chose Nathan Chester, Zoe Levert, Bryan Olesen to move on with his team, and Dan + Shay chose Madison Curbelo, Karen Waldrup, and Tae Lewis.

Dan + Shay called Waldrup “consistent” and “someone we can depend on,” which is why they chose her to move on. When they called her name, Waldrup folded over in relief. As she walked off stage, she gave herself a little first pump in the air, and McEntire got a kick out of that!

Waldrup really knows how to connect with the audience, and it’ll be fun to see it happen live next week!
