It’s been several years since America fell in love with Emily Ann Roberts on Season 9 of The Voice. The East Tennessee native and member of Team Blake ended the season as runner-up behind Jordan Smith.
Throughout her Voice run, Emily Ann stayed true to her country and bluegrass roots with covers of songs by the Dixie Chicks, Patty Loveless and Dolly Parton. But, it’s a cover of a Carrie Underwood song that we discovered that has us falling in love with Emily Ann all over again.
Prior to appearing on The Voice, Emily Ann posted a series of videos to YouTube. One of those videos shows the then-16-year old perched on a stool, guitar in hand, singing Carrie Underwood’s “Something In The Water.” Not only does Emily Ann slay the challenging vocals of the song, but she gets to show off her impressive guitar skills.
In 2017, she made her Grand Ole Opry debut.
“I was in middle school the first time I saw a show at the Grand Ole Opry and I wanted more than anything to stand in the circle and sing songs and tell stories. Somehow tonight I was able to go from the little girl in the audience to the girl on stage,” Roberts wrote of her Opry debut. “I won’t ever forget this night or this feeling or the standing ovation.”
Hear Emily Ann Roberts sing “Something In The Water” in the video below. Prepare to be blown away!
