Carly Pearce Pays Tribute To Ella Langley With Her Spin On One Of Her Hits
Carly Pearce shared her love and appreciation for Ella Langley with a recent cover of one of Langley’s hit singles.
As Pearce detailed on Instagram, AIMP Nashville asked her to help recognize their “Song of the Year.” According to its website, AIMP, or the Association of Music Publishers, “provides outreach, networking and educational opportunities by informing its members on the latest trends and practices in the music industry.“
The AIMP hosts an annual awards show. This year’s ceremony was held at the Analog at the Hutton Hotel in Nashville on Tuesday, April 14th.
Music Row reports that the Song of the Year nominees were:
- “Am I Okay?” by Megan Moroney
- “Happen To Me” by Russell Dickerson
- “I Never Lie” by Zach Top
- “Texas” by Blake Shelton
- “Weren’t for the Wind” by Ella Langley
- “20 Cigarettes” by Morgan Wallen
Langley’s “Weren’t for the Wind” was named the winning song, so that’s what Pearce performed at the AIMP Nashville Awards.
Langley released “Weren’t for the Wind” in October 2024 as a promotional single from the deluxe edition of her debut album, Hungover. She officially shipped the song to country radio in January 2025.
The track peaked at #2 on the Country Airplay chart and #4 on the Hot Country Songs chart, and has since been certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA. It was the last single she released before her current smash hit, “Choosin’ Texas.”
Ella Langley And Fans React To Carly Pearce’s Cover Of “Weren’t For The Wind”
Carly Pearce shared a short video on Instagram of herself singing “Weren’t for the Wind” at the AIMP Nashville Awards. She spoke highly of the song and Ella Langley in the video’s caption, writing:
“I was asked by @aimpnashville to honor the ‘Song of the Year,’ which happened to be ‘Weren’t For The Wind’ by Ella Langley and the incredible writers and publishers behind it. This was one of my favorite songs from the past year, so I was honored to get to put my own spin on it last night.”
Pearce’s passionate performance earned lots of compliments from her followers. Some of the comments on her post included:

Pearce’s video also earned a response from Langley herself. She made it clear that she was a huge fan of her cover!
Langley wrote, “Yes ma’am… you’re so talented.”
