Underwood had the opportunity to open for Guns N’ Roses during two concerts in Canada in early August. She pulled out all the stops for the show, and covered rock hits such as Joan Jett’s “Bad Reputation,” Motörhead’s “Ace of Spades,” and of course, Heart’s “Alone.”
In a sense, Underwood owes her career to “Alone.” She covered the song while competing on American Idol in 2005. Her powerhouse performance came during a crucial point in the competition as a member of the Top 11.
Underwood impressed tons of viewers with her rendition of “Alone.” She advanced to the next stage of the competition, and eventually won the season.
18 years after her first cover of “Alone” made her a household name, Underwood revisited the song. She included it in her setlist while opening for Guns N’ Roses in Nashville on August 26.
Two days after the show, Underwood said:
“Still flying high after the incredible show @geodispark here in #Nashville !!! Thanks @gunsnroses for having us out for a few dates! These shows were epic and all the #Gunners were beyond amazing to us! Thanks, Nashville, for SHOWING UP for my favorite band!!!”

“I’ve been very lucky over the years, and there haven’t been very many Carrie related things that I haven’t been able to experience in some capacity. ‘Alone’ was one I was still holding out hope that I’d catch one day. Last night delivered.”
