The Celeb Shania Twain Thinks Could Replace Brad Pitt In Her Song “That Don’t Impress Me Much”
on Jul 30, 2026

“You think you’re special / You think you’re something else / OK, so you’re Brad Pitt / That don’t impress me much / So you got the looks, but have you got the touch?”
– Shania Twain’s “That Don’t Impress Me Much”
We all know the iconic shoutout to Brad Pitt in Shania Twain‘s song “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” from her 1997 album Come On Over.
Uniquely, the reference has managed to maintain its relevance 29 years later, as Brad Pitt remains a major star whose appeal hasn’t diminished with age.
But what if that song mentioned another celebrity? Maybe someone who’s on the younger side.
Shania offered a name in a recent interview, and the reason for mentioning this star couldn’t be more different than her original intent with the Brad Pitt name-drop.

Who Could Replace Brad Pitt In Shania Twain’s 1997 Hit?
Back in 2017, Shania explained why Brad got all the attention in her song, and why it had to be in the light of her not being impressed.
She told Billboard:
“I was writing this album and there was a scandal of [Brad Pitt] and Gwyneth [Paltrow] where there was naked photos of him [in Playgirl magazine, which Pitt later successfully sued for publishing the paparazzi photos]. And this was like all the rage. I just thought ‘I don’t know what all the fuss is about.’ I’m like, well that don’t impress me much, I mean what is all the fuss. We see people naked every day. That’s really what I thought. I wasn’t picking on Brad Pitt.”
She added, “Of course, it could have been any gorgeous guy.”
In a July 28 interview with Harper’s BAZAAR, Shania addressed her 1997 hit “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” offering a name of a star for use in a hypothetical alternative version of the song.
“If I were writing ‘That Don’t Impress Me Much’ today, what would I rewrite?” Shania asked herself. “Well, you know, I’ve never met Brad Pitt, and I just don’t know whether he’s avoiding me because he’s offended that I put him in the lyric of the song, or whether he’s just never heard the song before.”
She then added, “I wouldn’t take Brad Pitt out of the song, but maybe I would add some people, like…Who do you think you are? Harry Styles?”
Shania Twain and Harry Styles are, on paper, an unlikely duo. Two pop artists from different generations, often performing within different genres, and yet they’e sparked a friendship over the years, seeing collaborations at Coachella in 2022 and a major stadium residency earlier this summer.
Over a 12-date stint, Shania Twain was the opening act for Harry Styles at London’s Wembley Stadium on his Together, Together Tour.
There, she actually changed the Brad Pitt lyric to reflect this Harry Styles moment.
