Colt Ford Cancels All Summer Tour Dates Following Heart Attack

Country star Colt Ford suffered a heart attack on April 4 following a show at Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row venue in Gilbert, Arizona.
He was rushed to Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona, and was admitted to the ICU. Ford’s spokesperson didn’t give much information, so fans were worried for several days.
On April 9, Ford’s representative told Country Rebel, “Ford remains in the ICU, with his condition steadily improving in a positive direction. At this time, his family is requesting privacy and appreciates your continued thoughts and prayers.”
How is Colt Ford doing now?
On April 15, Ford’s team released a press release that revealed Ford is still in the ICU but “has made significant progress in his recovery, and his condition is slowly but steadily improving” in the last week.”
The press release also revealed that he would be canceling all of his performances through August 31st.
“Due to current circumstances, Ford’s scheduled tour dates through August 30th have been canceled. Refunds are available at the point of purchase for any canceled dates. Previously purchased tickets will be honored for any rescheduled dates.”
This announcement affected 27 concerts, while four were able to be rescheduled. This is unfortunate news, as Ford himself was so excited to be on the road all summer! See his tour announcement from February 21.
Ford’s heart attack comes after opening up about being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and eye cancer.
“Last year I got diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called Myasthenia Gravis,” Ford told Taste of Country. “It’s been tough. The last year quite honestly got really hard for me. It’s a disease and there’s no cure for this.”
Colt added that Myasthenia Gravis “affects the muscles in your face, your eyes, and your throat. It hadn’t really affected my throat, but it really affected my eye. I had no control over my right eye. It really messes with your vision. I could see perfectly out of either eye, but then I would look together and I’d see three of you and you would be melting together like a lava lamp.”
You might know Ford for being a co-writer on the hit song “Dirt Road Anthem” alongside Brantley Gilbert. Ford actually included the song on his 2008 album Ride Through the Country. That version featured Gilbert on vocals. In 2010, Jason Aldean took the song to new heights, taking it all the way to number one on Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart.
The team also requested privacy for the singer and his family during this time.
