Vince Gill recently celebrated 35 years as a member of the Grand Ole Opry, and his closest friends, family, and country music stars came together to support him during the special night.

The Grand Ole Opry held a tribute concert for Gill on Saturday, October 17, to celebrate his achievement. The night included performances by Gill, his wife Amy Grant, Ricky Skaggs, Patty Loveless, Charlie Worsham, and the Opry Square Dancers.

During Grant’s set, she sang several of her husband’s songs, including “Til We Get It Right” and “Don’t Let Our Love Start Slippin’ Away.” In a rare moment, Gill’s daughter, Jenny, came out to assist with backup vocals.

Those in attendance also got to see Gill and Loveless reunite to sing their duet “My Kind of Woman, My Kind of Man.” It was the first time in years the two have performed the song together.

But perhaps the most moving moment of the night came when Gill and the entire lineup joined him on stage to sing his iconic “Go Rest High On That Mountain.”

Gill first recorded the song in 1994 for his album When Love Finds You. He has often said that part of the reason he wrote the song was in memory of his half-brother, Bob, who passed away in 1993.

The song has become one of Gill’s most popular hits throughout his long career and has been a staple at memorials and tributes for decades.

Skaggs and Loveless actually sang backup vocals on the original recording, so it was a full-circle moment to see them come together with Gill for the live performance all these years later.
