‘Dancing With the Stars’ Horror Night: Unexpected Elimination Shakes Up The Competition
on

The remaining 10 Dancing With the Stars Season 35 couples brought their moves and plenty of spook to Tuesday’s horror movie-themed night. The theme required the teams to perform routines inspired by horror films.
The two-hour episode saw the return of Val Chmerkovskiy after a one-week suspension. And Shirley Ballas, 10-time U.S. Latin American dance champion and mother of pro dancer Mark Ballas, joined as a guest judge for the week.

Early in the episode, Ballas made it clear that she was taking her judging job seriously. In a shocking move, the dance pro granted actress Julia Stiles and dancer Ezra Sosa a score of 4 after her fellow judges scored them with 7’s and 8’s.
Ballas’s harsh scoring came through once again for Tatyana Ali and Jan Ravnik’s routine, also giving them a score of 4.
What did each team perform on Horror Movie Night?
- Actress Julia Stiles and partner Ezra Sosa danced an Argentine tango to “The Dogs Attack,” inspired by the film “The Omen.”
- Actor Harry Shum Jr. and partner Jenna Johnson performed a contemporary dance to “Toxic,” inspired by “Saw.”
- Actress Tatyana Ali and partner Jan Ravnik danced a paso doble to “I Lied to You,” inspired by the movie “Sinners.”
- Actress Jenna Dewan and partner Val Chmerkovskiy performed an Argentine tango to “Uninvited,” inspired by Zombie movies.
- Paralympian Ezra Frech and partner Daniella Karagach danced a jazz routine to “Madness” inspired by “The Invisible Man.”

What were the leaderboard standings?
At the end of the night, Harry Shum Jr. & Jenna Johnson and Amber Glen & Pasha Pashkov topped the leaderboard, while Tyler Cameron & Sharna Burgess and Tatyana Ali & Jan Ravnik were at the bottom based on combined judges’ scores from this week and last week. Those scores, combined with viewer votes, determined who would see their Dancing With the Stars journey end.
After last week’s surprise non-elimination episode, it was announced that Horror Movie Night would end with two teams being sent home. The celebrities and dancers who were sent home were:
Tyler Cameron & Sharna Burgess and Jackson Olson & Emma Slater
With only four weeks of competition and eight teams left in Season 35, the remaining episodes are going to see intense competition.
The next episode of Dancing With the Stars will air on Monday night, November 2, to avoid interfering with Tuesday’s midterm election coverage. Tune into ABC for next week’s Disney Night.
