“Devastated” Darius Rucker Mourns Death Of Longtime Crew Member & Friend

Darius Rucker Is Mourning The Death Of Jason “Devil Boy” Parkin, Who’d Been Part Of His Crew For 25 Years

On Wednesday (October 2), Darius Rucker took to social media to share that he’s mourning the loss of one of his longtime crew members.

Rucker, who started his career as the frontman of Hootie & the Blowfish before becoming a solo country artist, has known Jason “Devil Boy” Parkin for decades. Parkin worked in Rucker’s crew for almost 25 years, making him a “staple” part of his team.

Parkin served as Rucker’s production manager, meaning he played a crucial role in each one of his concerts. But beyond that, Parkin was one of the “Wagon Wheel” singer’s dearest friends.

“For nearly 25 years, Jason “Devil Boy” Parkin was a staple in our crew,” a heartbroken Rucker shared in his social media post. “He was more than our production manager, he was our brother. We are devastated by his passing this week.”

Rucker ended his post with prayers for Parkin’s family and said, “Rest in peace DB, til we meet again.

Rucker’s Friends & Fans Share Their Condolences

The singer’s friends and fans were heartbroken to hear the news about Parkin’s death. They shared their condolences in the comments section of his post.

Charles Kelley of Lady A said, “Oh man. What a great dude. Sorry to hear that buddy.”

Jake Owen commented, “Wow… so sorry D,” and let Rucker know he was praying for him and for Parkin’s family.

Tyler Booth said, “Makes me so sad brother to see this. Love him and love you all. Prayers for everyone.”

Someone who knew Parkins personally wrote, “I’ve known Jason since he was 9 years old. I watched him grow up. Loved his humor, his kindness, his generosity, and his sweet, sweet spirit! I’ve been in tears since I heard on Monday. He will always be family, and he will forever be missed. Thank you for this post, and honoring him in this way.”

Another follower wrote, “I’m sorry for your loss. I’m praying for you and his family and sending you a big hug.”
